Scholarships

The Department of Communication annually honors its finest students with financial awards. Applications are generally due in March. Please email Dr. Matthew Spialek  for more information about these departmental scholarships and awards.

Virgil and Lillian Baker Scholarship

Established in honor of two former professors in the department for students with competitive scholarship, leadership, school activities, or college service record.

M. Blair Hart Scholarship

Established in honor of a former professor in the department for students with competitive scholarship, leadership, school activities, or college service record.

Theodora M. Hallin Scholarship (Dean's Office)

Students majoring in communication or theatre who graduate from Fayetteville High School with a minimum 3.0 high school GPA. Preference to students active in theatrical productions or debate, and involved in community activities.

Janice Rushing Endowed Award in Speech

Janice Hocker Rushing was an internationally acclaimed scholar who taught in the department from 1985 until her untimely death in 2004. The Janice Hocker Rushing Endowed Award honors her life and provides financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of Communication.
